The Great Diaper Debacle

The children were quietly sitting together on the floor tonight, reading a book together (a rare peaceful moment) so I ran to grab my camera.  In those 3.2 seconds it took me to return, they grew weary of the serenity, but not before I got one quick shot of their blissful alliance...

But things turned south when Lil' Man decided to escape the tranquility of story time and grab his trusty sword.  The Princess does not tolerate such mutiny, so she seized the tiny foe and declared that his punishment for rebellion would be that she would capture him and change his diaper...

** At this point, Mommy thought the potential for entertainment value in this whole episode too enticing to intervene (great parenting I know) and so became like those Animal Planet videographers who stand by and take pictures while the lion eats the gazelle at the watering hole. **

The Princess allowed him an out when she went off to his room to grab a diaper, wipes, and PJ's, but alas, the poor unsuspecting Lil' Man was not able to escape her clutches.  The takedown was quick: and the pants were commandeered in a hurry, but as you can see by 'the blur', the brave knight tried to make a run for it...

The captor managed to remove the offending diaper (thankfully a "poo-less" one) which isn't as challenging a task as it may seem -- the young knight delights in running around in the buff.

With his newfound naked liberation, he seized the opportunity to make a break for it...

But was instantly apprehended and detained for clean diaper replacement.

The young knight was clearly displeased with this turn of events and proceeded to throw a tantrum, wherein Mommy finally intervened and hastily wrestled the fresh diaper onto the poor lad.  Once clothed, the newly emancipated boy made a run down the hall...

But not before turning around and giving his captor the "what-for", finger-wagging included.  And one last "NO, NO!" for good measure:

Hence, the battle between good and evil forces was fought, no blood was shed (though about 30 baby wipes perished) and peace was returned to the kingdom.  These two wild monkey babies are far better entertainment than what's on TV any night of the week!  I guess one could never claim boredom at our house.  But I wouldn't have it any other way!!
